Why We Don’t Compete With Orangetheory

Group fitness has become a commodity. These days, most people know that combining high-intensity exercise with real, whole foods delivers results. That’s not a secret anymore.Naturally, big-box fitness franchises have jumped in to capitalize on this formula. They offer more classes, flashier studios, and lower rates. They have massive marketing budgets, sleek branding, and full classes that keep their costs low.

So, why aren’t we trying to compete with that?

Because we’re not selling group workouts. We’re delivering personalized coaching and real results.

YOU Are NOT a Commodity

Orangetheory. F45. Fit Body Boot Camp. Jazzercise. They all run on a similar model: low-wage instructors (not coaches) delivering scripted, one-size-fits-all workouts set to music. They don’t know—or need to know—Katie’s injury history, what her stress levels are like, or whether today’s workout aligns with her long-term goals. As long as she’s paying her membership, she’s in.

But at Pulse, we take a completely different approach.

We create programs tailored to the individual—designed around Katie’s life, her goals, and her needs. We want results for her, not the group. In a perfect world, Katie would train with us one-on-one every day with customized workouts and nutrition. But time and money are real constraints. So instead, we group her with others who share similar goals, allowing us to coach individuals within a small, focused group.

Everyone gets individual attention and a customized plan. Sometimes they train together—but their wellness paths are unique. That’s also why we do quarterly one-on-one goal reviews with every member. It’s included in the membership because goals evolve—and the path to achieve them should too.

Fitness Isn’t About Sweating

If getting in shape were as easy as sweating a few times a week and eating your vegetables, we’d all look like superheroes.

But that’s not the case. Most people know what to do. The real struggle? Taking consistent action. Holding yourself accountable. Doing the hard thing on the days you don’t feel like it.That’s why we don’t sell choreographed sweat sessions—we sell results. And results require two things: knowledge and action.

Knowledge is everywhere. You can Google workouts or follow a YouTube routine in minutes. You can even walk into an Orangetheory and have someone tell you what to do.

But consistent action? That’s much harder. Our biology is built for comfort and energy conservation, not for voluntary hardship.

And yet, growth only happens when we act despite discomfort. That’s where we come in—as coaches. We keep your future self front and center. We help you navigate challenges, stay focused, and keep moving forward.

We’re in the Relationship Business

Customized plans. Real-life implementation. Accountability. None of that works without trust.

When you’re struggling, we don’t just push you harder—we listen. We care. We guide you toward what’s best for you, even if that means stepping back.

Sometimes that means fewer gym sessions. More time outside. Or even a good book and a mindset reset.

Have those conversations cost us money in the short term? Sure. But they built trust. And when the time is right, our members come back stronger—because they know we have their best interest at heart.

So, ask yourself:

Do you want a workout, or do you want a coach?

If you’re ready for real change, we’re ready to help.
